SPPA Engages Swisscontact on Skills Development and Community Empowerment

T he Social Performance Professionals’ Alliance (SPPA) recently held a strategic engagement meeting with Swisscontact to explore collaboration opportunities focused on skills development, sustainable livelihoods, and inclusive economic growth in Turkana County.The discussion highlighted the growing need to align technical and vocational training with emerging opportunities in the oil and gas sector, particularly in Lokichar, while strengthening economic integration between refugee and host communities.

Strategic Areas of Collaboration

Both organizations identified key areas of potential collaboration, including youth and women empowerment, enterprise development, ESG integration, and capacity building aligned with international standards such as the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
The engagement also emphasized support for Kenya’s Shirika Plan, promoting self-reliance and resilience among vulnerable populations.

SPPA and Swisscontact agreed to explore next steps, including the development of joint pilot programs and a framework for long-term partnership aimed at delivering sustainable and impactful community outcomes
